Have a healthy adventure at the Findlay Toyota Center with Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s Celebrate Life Health Expo 2019.

It’s an event that has been going on for seven years and is the culmination of what grew out of the Women’s Expo, Community Outreach Coordinator Roxanne Hull said, adding that last year was the first time for it at the Findlay Toyota Center.

“It’s going to be big,” she said. “The adults I talk to are just as excited as the kids.”

Held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7, the free event will feature larger-than-life walk-through exhibits of the human body including a MEGA body, a MEGA Heart and Colossal Colon. Tours will delve into how the human body operates, potential health challenges and how lifestyle choices, such as diet, exercise and not smoking, can help people stay healthy. It’s all about self-education, and there will be fact sheets with each of the inflatables, Hull said.

There’s also going to be a lot of giveaways and more than 36 of the hospital’s staff on hand, she said.

Numerous experiences are planned such as healthy nutrition tips and demonstrations with samples, cycling and hiking info for outdoor adventurers, blood pressure checks, lung function tests, back screenings and more, GoNoodle fitness for kids, chair yoga demonstrations, first aid tips and CPR basics, self-defense sessions, professional face painters and a “smoothie bike” allowing people to create a nutritious smoothie as they pedal for fitness.

Hull said she hopes to encourage some of the kids who attend to go into the medical field.

Among the prizes for the drawings are a Fitbit, an annual parking pass for Prescott parks, gift baskets packed with items, GoNoodle prize packs, a staycation gift basket, a $25 gift card to Walmart and more.

It’s going to be a great event and everybody’s going to have fun, she said.

When she began at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, the hospital didn’t have its own health expo and only attended events put on by other organizations, Hull said.

It was her goal to create one. “For me, it’s a dream come true,” Hull said. “This is my baby. I’m excited to see it grow.”
