The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors is inviting anyone wishing to remember and honor those who have fallen in service to the country to join U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, Yavapai County Supervisor Rowle Simmons, Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli and Quang Nguyen from 9 to 10 a.m.  Memorial Day, May 27, at the historic Citizens’ Cemetery, 815 Sheldon St. in Prescott.

“This event has been a Yavapai County tradition for so many years; I am humbled and honored to be a part of this observance and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation,” Simmons said. “I hope everyone takes a moment out of their weekend to come to the Citizens’ Cemetery and show their respect for our fallen soldiers.”

Presentations for the observance will include Master of Ceremonies, the Honorable Ken Bennett, Linda Shebek of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Josh Prout playing “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes, the High Mountain Chordsmen, the Camp Verde Calvary, the Arizona Rough Riders, and Bradley Moors.

Period attire is welcome, and parking will be available at Yavapai College with shuttle vans picking up near the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center. Additional parking is available at Prescott Transit Authority and Bennett Oil. Golf carts will be available to shuttle attendees from the entrance of the cemetery to the event.

Several copies of “Grave History, A Guide to Citizens’ Cemetery, Prescott, Arizona” by T. Stone will be available for purchase at the event.
