Linda Jane Chase (Stern)

Linda Jane Chase (Stern) was born a 1st generation Arizonan in Jerome, Arizona, on April 4, 1935, to Arthur and Viola Stern.

Raised as an only child first in Clarkdale and then in Prescott, Arizona, Linda made many life-long friends and beautiful connections that stayed pertinent throughout her life. After marrying John Norman Chase (Oct. 22, 1955), the couple started their family in Prescott and then moved (1963) to Kearny, Arizona, where they raised their children, Dennis, Daniel and Anne. All three kids were later married, giving them nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren as the years went on. As their children and grandchildren grew up, John and Linda retired to the home she was raised in and where she resided for the rest of her days.

Linda was an active and passionate Christian throughout her life. She raised her family in the Methodist church, where her dedication led her to instill amazing values, and her unwavering faith created a steadfast foundation for her entire family. She led them, by example, as a wife, mom, Granny, and dear friend. In addition to being an incredible matriarch, Linda stayed active as a talented artist of paint and song and could often be found in front of a canvas or relaxing with her ukulele, capturing the beauty of life around her. She never skipped a beat and made the most of every one of life’s moments. Linda’s youthful demeanor will continue to influence all lives she has touched.

Linda’s best memories were forged during countless hootenannies, picnics, camping trips, and other gatherings with family and dear friends. At the age of 84, on May 3, 2019, in the home of her daughter in Yuma, Arizona, Linda, surrounded by family including all three of her grown children, passed peacefully from this life to join the love of her life in the next. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, she is survived and remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many dear friends; all of whom are blessed by so many wonderful moments with this truly amazing lady.

Her family expresses that she was the quirkiest, most genuine and most real person, and there are no words to express the impact she has had on their lives. There was always a safe place in her presence and she will be missed by all she touched, for the rest of our lives.

A memorial celebration will be held later this summer.
