CORDES LAKES

Balance Class continues on March 26 at 10 a.m., which will be the last day for additional people to join. The representative of NACOG will come to Cordes Lakes to teach this class and it is for both men and women. Class is at Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, from 10 a.m. to noon each Tuesday through April 30.

Produce - March 28. Sign up starts at 7 a.m. and doors close and LOCK at 9, at the Community center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. Please remember that when the truck is in the parking lot, no one is allowed in the area.

Cordes Lakes Community Association meeting will be April 11 at 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive at 7 p.m. Tentative speaker is from Arcosanti.

Volunteers are needed to help with events. If you are able and willing to help with planning, preparing and clean-up after events, please call 928-632-9769 and leave your name and phone number. Events cannot be held without volunteer help.

A notary is available during regular library hours at the Cordes Lakes Library.

SPRING VALLEY

The library is up and running and has many amenities. Check it out. Students have held their chess competition and their winner will play Cordes Lakes winner on March 30.

Spring Valley Homeowners Association meeting is Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. at the church, 13955 S. Spring Lane.

MAYER

Classic Cars will be shown at the Mayer Harley-Davidson store on March 29, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be available for donation with 100 percent of the donations going to Mayer Meals on Wheels. A goodie basket is available for raffle to $1 per ticket with drawing at this event at 2 p.m.

Mayer Community Church, 10001 S. Fifth in Mayer, is presenting a Seder Dinner on April 12 where we learn more about Christianity’s Jewish roots. Reservations required and this is a potluck. Call Joyce at 480-244-6767 to reserve your space and find out what is still needed for the potluck.

Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Walkathon will be held April 27 at 9 a.m. A pancake and sausage breakfast will be starting at 8 a.m. Many prizes and surprises, so get your registration and sponsor sheets at Mayer Area Meals on Wheels, 10051 S. Miami in Mayer, or call 928-632-7511.

The annual Mother’s Day Plant sale is gearing up and plants will be available from April 29 to May 10. There will be a drawing for a goody basket at 12:30 p.m. on May 10. Get your raffle tickets at Meals on Wheels.

Mayer Area Meals on Wheels now has ice for sale at $1 per bag.

AMERICAN LEGION

The American Legion is preparing to celebrate its 100-year anniversary. All posts in Yavapai County are combining to have an event open to the public to make people aware of the American Legion and what it does for their neighborhoods. One will be held at Camp Verde Community Park, 473 Main in Camp Verde, on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and posts on this side of the county will be represented. Then on May 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Prescott side will hold its event at Mountain Valley Park in Prescott Valley. These events are free and there will be bands, games, food and fun, so plan to attend to learn more about the American Legion.

U.S. Flag retirement – A bin has been placed at the Mayer St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store (open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday) for worn U.S. flags. They will be collected by American Legion Post 122 and retired with dignity. If you have a flag ready to be retired, please take it to the Thrift Store.

WEEKLY EVENTS

CORDES LAKES

Bingo is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available.

Taco Tuesday at the Center is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. to either eat there or takeout. American Legion meets at 1 p.m. the third Friday of the month at Cordes Lakes Community Center. This is an open meeting and all are welcome.

SPRING VALLEY

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts meet at the church at 17330 E. Mule Deer Drive in Spring Valley at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Scouts learn new skills by earning badges, enjoy camping, hiking, and much more. Contact Garrison Russell at 702-439-7316 for more information or to join.

MAYER

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center, 10051 Miami. Beading is held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Call MOW at 928-632-7511 for more information.

MOPS meets the first and third Thursdays at the Mayer Community Church, 10001 Fifth Street in Mayer, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Knit & Crochet meets at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays at Flour Stone Bakery in Mayer. This is for everyone, beginners and advanced. Bring your own project and supplies, help is here.

MONTHLY EVENTS

Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club holds its outings on the third Monday of the month with meetings held the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. at various members’ homes. Contact Ken Dunham at 928-899-6810 for more information. Meetings are held at member’s homes and varies by month.

Mayer Fire has its open board meetings at 5 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month at the main location, 11975 S. Highway 69.

Spring Valley Homeowners meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the building behind the Spring Valley Church on Spring Lane, 13955 S. Spring Lane.

Meals on Wheels Spaghetti Dinner is held at 10051 S. Miami, on the third Sunday of every month from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. for $8 per person.
