Update, 9 p.m. Dec. 30:

Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority crews responded Sunday, Dec. 29, to the house fire in the 3400 block of Dale Drive, and "could see the fire and smoke from the home as they pulled out of the station," said Brad Davis, battalion chief for CAFMA.

First arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire showing from a bedroom window at the rear of the home, Davis reported Monday. Crews came across the lone resident of the home, an elderly woman who was "injured with possible burns and smoke inhalation."

She was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center's East Campus; while en route, doctors chose to have her flown instead to a Phoenix-area hospital for further treatment. As of late night on Dec. 29, she was listed in stable condition and being kept for observation.

In fighting the fire, fire crews kept a nearby RV and adjoining properties from being damaged, Davis said. The house did receive extensive damage to a bedroom and hallway area on the West side of the home and there was smoke damage throughout the structure.

Response included four engines, one truck company, one utility unit, one water tender, one battalion chief, and a fire investigator. CAFMA crews were assisted by Prescott Fire Department, Prescott Valley Police Department, Town of Prescott Valley Building Department and Public Works Department, APS, and Unisource.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A Prescott Valley Police officer at the scene said, "It was fully engulfed."

An elderly woman was the only person in the home, the officer said. She was later flown to a Phoenix-area hospital with undetermined injuries.

The fire was quickly put down by Central Yavapai Fire District firefighters.
