Prescott man faces aggravated assault charges; released on bond

Robert David Pearsall, 41, turned himself in Friday and was booked into the Yavapai County jail in Camp Verde. He has since been released on a $20,000 bond, said Dwight D’Evelyn, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Media Relations coordinator.

Sheriff's Office seeking Prescott man in connection with aggravated assault

A $50,000 warrant charging aggravated assault with a deadly weapon has been issued for Robert David Pearsall, 41, according to a news release from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

Pearsall is 5-foot-11, 160 pounds, with bald/blond hair, and green eyes. He is a resident of Prescott.

On Saturday, Sept. 8, at approximately 9 p.m., at a Verde River camp site in the Drake area, a 45-year-old man was approached by Pearsall who, in an unprovoked manner and without warning, struck the victim in the head, face, and chest multiple times with a hardened piece of wood, the news release states.

The beating the victim received caused severe swelling, cuts and blood loss to his head and face. The blows were hard enough to break and splinter the wood Pearsall allegedly used in the assault, the YCSO reported. Pearsall fled the scene after being confronted by witnesses.

The victim was transported first by vehicle from the campsite to Drake and Highway 89, while he was in and out of consciousness during the 20-minute drive. He was eventually airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center with serious injuries and continues treatment, according to the news release. The motive for the attack is unclear at this time.

A search for Pearsall is ongoing, and his whereabouts are unknown. Detectives believe Pearsall knows he is wanted and is trying to avoid contact.
