The Girls State Program, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, is a citizenship training program for junior year high school students designed to teach the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship. This program was started in 1938 and is presented in every state in the United States. In Arizona, the program was first held in 1947 at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where it has been held for 71 years. This is a one-week program and is fully organized and run by an all-volunteer staff. This year’s program is scheduled for June 3-9.

The local American Auxiliary Unit 6 in Prescott is very pleased to sponsor three junior girls from Prescott High School: Gema Arrieta, Sydney Seeley and Rebekah Norris. The American Legion Auxiliary very much appreciates the financial support from the Prescott Noon Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club of Prescott and the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe.

We know that our delegates will have an informative and exciting week, and we wish them all well.
