Doce line of fire — five years later

On the morning of June 18, 2013, the Doce Fire ignited west of Prescott, just south of Iron Springs Road. The fast-moving blaze went on to burn for days, ultimately destroying more than 6,700 acres – largely in the Granite Mountain Wilderness Area. Especially hard hit were the recreational trails that run through the wilderness area. Workers got started soon afterward to restore the charred pathways, and Prescott National Forest Trails and Wilderness Manager Jason Williams recorded the progress. Today, even though the trails have been restored, signs of the fire remain throughout the wilderness area.
