Sheep, Steers, and Pigs ... Oh MY! Carsyn Smith is sweet, kind, compassionate third grader at Del Rio School. She is kind to others and always has a smile on her face. She works hard in her studies and still makes time for her animals.

Carsyn participated in the Yavapai County Expo on Sept. 5-8. Expo is a weekend where 4-H and FFA members come together to showcase the animals they have raised throughout the year. Carsyn raised five award-winning birds this year: three meat chickens, named Sprinkle, Cupcake, and Frosting; a turkey, named Jeff; and Flower, a show chicken. Each day Carsyn had to feed and water her animals, practice handling them, and often participated in practice shows to prepare for the big weekend. Next year, Carsyn is looking forward to raising a goat.

Beyond being a part of FFA for two years, Carsyn is highly active in several school clubs. She is a member of Student Council so she “can help plan cool things and share information with my class.” She is in Clay Club because she enjoys making things, “I am so excited to paint my clay monster this week.” Lastly, Carsyn is a part of the schools Recycle Club “to make the school beautiful and support a good cause.”

We are so proud of Carsyn and the variety of talent and energy she brings to Del Rio School and our community.
