OKLAHOMA CITY — Embry-Riddle’s women’s golf team ended the first of four rounds of play at the NAIA Women’s National Championship tied for 17th out of 30 squads Tuesday, May 14, at the Lincoln Park Golf Club’s West Course.

The Eagles, who fired a +27 (315 total score) on the par 72, 6,050-yard course, ended the day 28 strokes behind current leader Oklahoma City University, which notched a minus-1 (287).

Elle Carlson led Embry-Riddle individually, tallying a +2 (74) to put her in a tie for 23rd place. Jessica Williams (T-78th, +7, 79), Kendall McBean (T-89th, +8, 80), Nicole Lopes (T-107th, +10, 82) and Megan Hessil (T-143rd, +17, 89) rounded out the Eagles team’s finishers.

At the top of the first-round leaderboard was Melissa Eldredge of Oklahoma City University, who registered a minus-5 (67). Papatsara Niamrungrueang (T-2nd, minus-2, 70) of William Carey, Mari Zrodowska (T-2nd, minus-2, 70) of William Woods, Avril Li (T-4th, minus-1, 71) of British Columbia and Isabel Rijos (T-4th, minus-1, 71) of Dalton State rounded out the Top 5.


Embry-Riddle will play in the second round of nationals, which tees off at 5:30 a.m. Arizona time at Lincoln Park in Oklahoma City.
