Motorcycle rider killed in Cornville collision
Investigation ongoing
A Cornville man was reportedly thrown from his motorcycle after hitting a guardrail along Cornville Road and died from his injuries Sunday, May 5, police officials said.
The man, 65-year-old Carl Rowe, was found unresponsive below an embankment near milepost 2.5 shortly after 4:15 p.m., according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO). He was not wearing a helmet. Medical personnel officially declared him dead after he was transported to the Verde Valley Medical Center.
The initial investigation indicates Rowe was traveling east on Cornville Road and struck the guardrail after crossing into the west lane, YCSO reported. Witnesses reported seeing him ejected and thrown some distance. The motorcycle then deflected off the guardrail and struck a white van that was dragging a trailer in the west lane. The driver of the van was uninjured.
The collision remains under investigation.
