Senate committee votes to block cities from enacting own regulations to protect tenants
Arizona is now third-worst in the nation for affordable housing, according to a report released this month by the National Low Income Housing Coalition. Arizona’s rental-housing supply can now meet only a quarter of the state's need. A Senate panel voted this week to stop all future efforts by cities, towns and counties to enact their own regulations to protect tenants. Opponents of HB 2115 fear that if the bill becomes law, such a radical change will only exacerbate the state’s housing situation.
