A crash that caused delays on Highway 69 Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 15, was caused by an erratic driver, officials said.

At about 3 p.m., Prescott Valley resident Joshua Klein, 27, was driving a 2004 Red Jeep four-door station wagon southeast on Highway 69. He was approaching Fain Road at excessive speed and passing vehicles on the left in the median when he lost control of the Jeep, according to the a Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) news release. His car entered westbound lanes striking two vehicles.

The Jeep was heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene, PVDP reported. One of the vehicles struck by the Jeep had to be towed as well.

Klein and one of the other drivers were transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott Valley with non-life threatening injuries, said Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority Fire Marshall Rick Chase.

“The investigation is still ongoing to ascertain if driving impairment contributed to the accident,” said PVPD spokesperson Jerry Ferguson.
