Jerry Dale Scott, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, in Prescott, Arizona. He was born in Clovis, New Mexico, on April 26, 1937, to Charles and Susie Scott. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Purvis Scott; his two daughters, Cynthia Scott and Jerene Speakman (Robin); his sons, Justin Scott and Jarrett Scott (Stefanie); his sister, Charlene Whitmore; 10 grandchildren, who were his life’s reward, Carrie Canter, Cassie Crosson, Kaitlyn Speakman, Makenzie Speakman, Aubrey Speakman, Sarah Scott, Andrew Scott, Savannah Scott, Jensen Scott, and Sienna Scott; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Bud Scott; his sister, Janelle McFall (Norman); his sister, Ella Kershaw (John); and his daughter, Kimberly Scott. Jerry spent his younger years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Tupelo, Mississippi, but Jerry claimed Prescott, Arizona, as his hometown for the last 46 years of his life. Cars were his business and his passion. He began as a sales manager for two Prescott dealerships. Jerry moved on to ownership of Western Motors, Courtesy Auto, and the Scott Datsun Dealership, for which he is best remembered. Jerry also made his mark in real estate as the owner of Pauley and McDonald Realtors, Prescott’s oldest and largest real estate brokerage at the time. During his time spent as a realtor, his second successful career, Jerry was honored with an award from Electronic Realty Associates (“ERA Real Estate”), a national real estate company, for being one of the top three salesmen in the United States. Jerry was a friend to all who knew him; he was always there to help and support those in need. He was very active in his church, serving as a youth leader and on the board of trustees. He loved his family beyond words, and greatly enjoyed baseball, Arabian horses, Mexican food and sweets. Jerry will be dearly missed by his family and all that knew him. A memorial service will be held Jan. 19, 2019, (1 p.m.) to celebrate Jerry’s life, at Praise Center, 2820 N. Mountain View Dr., Prescott Valley, Arizona, 86314.
