Dr. Merle Menerey, a retired dentist, born Sept. 7, 1928, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a 28-year resident of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on Jan. 8, 2019, after suffering a stroke recently. Merle was a longtime volunteer member of the local Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Posse.

Merle, a graduate of the dental school at the University of Michigan, served in Korea in the Navy attached to the Marine Corps immediately after graduation. Upon returning from service, he was a sole-practitioner dentist in Linden, Michigan, for many years, where he and his wife, Ruth, raised his four surviving children — Michael, Daniel, Kathleen and Timothy — who all followed Merle to the University of Michigan and are ardent Wolverine fans. Merle sold his dental practice in the late ’70s, then moved to Albany, New York, to work as a dental adviser for the State of New York dental program, where he met his second wife, Mary. Merle then retired and moved with Mary to Prescott, Arizona. After Mary’s death, he married his wife, Patty, in 2009.

Merle is survived by his wife, Patty; his four children, four grandchildren, and soon to be five great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Go Blue!
