Fashion show benefits local veterans

Women in Business is hosting the Smart Girls Fashion show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, presenting the latest winter fashions with proceeds benefitting local veterans.

The event includes lunch, raffle prizes and the opportunity to purchase clothing after the show.

Tickets are $30 and includes lunch and the event is held at the Centennial Center at Antelope Hills, 1989 Wineglass Drive.

Party with the Mad Hatter

Children of all ages are welcome to escape downt he rabbit hole and discover the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Prescott Public Library, 215 E. Goodwin St.

Dance at the Adult Center

Chad and Marie Burson are holding a Valentine’s Day Dance Party at the Adult Center of Prescott, 1280 E. Rosser St. Saturday, Feb. 9.

It starts with a Viennese Waltz dance lesson at 6:30 p.m. followed by the dance party at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for both.

See Oscar nominated short films

This year’s short films nominated for Academy Awards can be seen at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center with three different times for live action, animated and documentary short films.

The live action short films (“Detainment,” “Fauve,” “Marguerite,” “Mother” and “Skin”) are showing at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 Admission is $10 or $5 for youth, students and Yavapai College Staff

The animated short films (“Animal Behaviour,” “Bao,” “Late Afternoon,” “One Small Step,” and “Weekends”) are showing at 6:30 p.m. Feb 10. Admission is $10 or $5 for youth, students and Yavapai College Staff or $5 for those who purchased tickets for the 3 p.m. showing of live action shorts.

The documentary short films (“Black Sheep,” “End Game,” “Lifeboat,” “A Night at the Garden” and “Period. End of Sentence.”) are showing at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Admission is $10 or $5 for youth, students and Yavapai College Staff.
