The Mayer Public Library will undergo a much-needed remodel, which will close the building for three weeks.

From Monday, Feb. 18, through Monday, March 11, workers will create a fresh, new look and a better layout to serve the public, said Corey Christians, Yavapai County Free Library District director, in a Jan. 31 press release. Changes include a new circulation desk, a meeting room for up to 16 people, bring-your-own-device stations, new carpet and updated furniture.

Christians encourages Mayer patrons to visit the library before the remodel begins and check out as many items as possible. Checkout time on these items will be extended from three to six weeks beginning Feb. 1 for all Mayer items.

Mayer patrons who place holds may change their pickup locations to the next most convenient library by going to their online accounts, mobile app, or by asking library staff for help.

This project is being funded by the Yavapai County Free Library District; the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records; and Friends of Mayer Public Library.

A Grand Re-Opening and 50th Anniversary celebration will take place at Mayer Public Library on Wednesday, May 15.

The library is located at 10004 S. Wicks Ave, Mayer. For more information, call the library at 928-632-7370 or Yavapai County Free Library District at 928-771-3191.
