Sept. 21 was National Prisoner of War (POW) Recognition Day. Northern Arizona VA Health Care System held its annual POW Event outside in the beautiful Prescott air.

Col. (Ret) Ron Byrne was the guest speaker for the ceremony. Ron is an Air Force Veteran and Former Prisoner of War from the Vietnam War.

Students from Tri-City College Prep High School spoke at the ceremony. Rani Thompson, a senior who has been volunteering at the VA for the past four years spoke about heroes, like her father, Daryl Thompson who served in Vietnam.

The amazing Embry-Riddle University Army ROTC performed the Color Guard services and Mr. Brad Moors played taps beautifully.

Music was performed by the Bradshaw Mountain High School Choir led by Amy Van Winkle and the Master of Ceremonies was Alisa LeBlanc, and Junior from Prescott High School JROTC.

Many Prescott City officials attended the event as well as VA employees, Veterans, volunteers and community partners.
