I am a volunteer for the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Resource Center at the office of Arizona Oncology in Prescott Valley. I want to thank the many people who make sure our little office has items our local cancer patients need and require such as: wigs, hats, and literature which is provided by the Cancer Society. Other items we offer are donated by the Prescott Chapter of the American Sewing Guild, Frontier Days Rodeo Association and many local residents. Ladies knit and crochet hats which we give to patients to help them stay warm.
The Sewing Guild has made hundreds of head scarves and “port” pillows which are used to protect the patient’s chemo port from the automobile seatbelt. Frontier Rodeo donates gift cards, from Fry’s, which are given to patients to use as they see fit while receiving treatments. These items are all given free of charge in order to make an unpleasant time in the life of the patient just a little better. Of course, I can’t forget everyone at Arizona Oncology for allowing us to use their facility. Without them there would never be a Cancer Resource Center in Prescott.
