The June 20 negative Courier article waited until page 5A to praise the health care professionals who provide outstanding service in the Prescott V.A., Community Living Center (CLC).
My husband was in the CLC from 2012 to 2014 and died in their outstanding Hospice unit. The nurses, aides and medical staff met his needs with caring concern and expertise. Pain control was a major issue and is tricky to manage. Too much medication results in over sedation, agitation and delusional, out-of-control behavior.
I worked as a nurse for 10 years in a skilled nursing facility in California. State inspectors were known for nit-picking and writing citations for the least little infraction. For sure, the right water temperature is extremely important. The VA corrected the problem (which, by the way, my husband never complained about).
Seeing the Courier headline criticizing our VA alarmed me.
It was the best choice I made for my husband concerning his health care.
