I find it extremely interesting that there is all the apparent opposition to a mine in Skull Valley given that this newspaper regularly publishes articles on the history of Prescott, which would not exist except for the earlier miners searching for and/or digging out the valuable ore in the area and then needing a place to get a drink. But now that outsiders have come in and built their comfortable homes, they don’t want any more of that dirty stuff going on in their back yards.
It is similar to the local airport situation in that the airport was there with nothing around it for a good while, but now that people have built their comfortable homes under the flight patterns, there is opposition to expanding it even just to accommodate the current commercial traffic using it. Pretty soon the voices will start demanding that it be moved away, period.
