KEY WEST, Fla. — The iconic "Welcome to Key West" sign was reportedly stolen following Hurricane Irma, and the local Rotary Club would like it returned.

The sign was knocked over during the Sept. 10 hurricane and disappeared shorty thereafter.

The Rotary Club posted a photo of the missing sign along with this plea on their Facebook page: "Missing! If you have the Welcome to Key West sign or know someone that may have picked it up after the storm please message me so we can retrieve it! Fellow Rotarians please share on your page!"

According to the Rotary Club post, the sign cost $8,000.

In a separate October 1 post by Facebook user Brian Fields, a photo can be seen of a temporary sign that reads, "Welcome to Paradise."
