Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jerome Simpson to the Seligman Unified School District Governing Board. The appointment is effective Tuesday, November 14, 2017 and will conclude on December 31, 2018. The vacancy was created due to the resignation of Board Member Jan Lockhart who is moving out of state. Mrs. Lockhart’s service to the community is greatly appreciated. The position had been posted for three (3) weeks with no applicants. The position was re-posted with a closing date of November 3rd.
Prior to making the appointment, Superintendent Carter interviewed the candidates on Wednesday, November 8th in Seligman. Mr. Carter appreciates that he was contacted by several community members who offered their insights into the appointment as well.
Mr. Simpson has been married for thirty four years and the couple has three children, as well as grandchildren. They have lived in the district for almost two years. Superintendent Carter stated that “Mr. Simpson is familiar with the operations and scope of Boards since he works closely with several nonprofit organizations. He has a strong understanding of budgets and finance. He should be an excellent resource to his fellow Board Members.
