Obituary: Travis Ray McElmurry

Travis Ray McElmurry, born June 8, 1986, in Prescott, Arizona, has passed away this March in South Bend, Indiana.

Travis was raised in Arizona and later Utah. As an adult, he made his way to California seeking adventure with his best friend and high school sweetheart Stefanie Anderson, whom he later married. He worked hard to support his family, juggling a career and his studies. In 2015, he graduated with honors from Pepperdine University. While in school, he was the founder and co-president of Bravery2Business, an organization that worked to transition veterans into business careers. In 2016, He was accepted to Notre Dame University, receiving a scholarship to study law and business. He had a passion for ethics and sought to teach people to empower themselves through entrepreneurship. His plan was to start his own consulting firm to help people establish and grow their companies.

Travis is survived by his wife, Stefanie Anderson; parents Dale McElmurry (Lisa) and Susan Welker; siblings Terina Maldonado (Brent), Crystal-lynn Darby (Jonathon), Chelsea Castano (Kevin), Trenton, Cameron, Ethan and Bryce McElmurry. Additionally, he leaves behind six nephews; a niece; close in-laws Elaine, Jason and Cindy; grandparents Vearl “Bud” and Christine Welker; as well as many other friends and family spanning states, countries and generations.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25, at 3 p.m. at The Church of Latter-day Saints, 441 W. Perkinsville Road, Chino Valley, Arizona.
