Author Sara Dolan will speak about how to make cooking easy, enjoyable and rewarding at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Peregrine Book Company, 219A N. Cortez, Prescott.
Join Dolan, sample some of her recipes and have her newest cookbook, “Tried and True Just for You!” signed.
“These are recipes from friends and magazines that I’ve tweaked to make my own. I’ve always gotten rave reviews; I can guarantee you’ll like it,” Dolan said from her kitchen Friday afternoon where she has been cooking up a storm for two days. She plans to set up two 6-ft. tables full of samples for the audience.
When Dolan married 40 years ago, she inherited three boys. “They were good eaters, you know.” She wanted to write the book earlier, “but life got in the way.”
The boys grew up and got married, and in October, while recuperating from surgery, Dolan started collecting the recipes together in book form.
She ordered a printing of 120, sold out, printed more, sold out. The book is now in its third printing.
“It’s not about making money, it’s about people connecting – not texting, but having conversations,” she said. “It’s good to sit down with the family at dinner and have conversations.”
As a show of appreciation to veterans and first responders in the Prescott area, she is selling raffle tickets for a grand prize of a Gourmet Wine and Dine dinner for four guests in the author’s home – Chez Dolan. The winner will select the menu from recipes in the cookbook.
Tickets are six for $5 or 15 for $10. All raffle proceeds go to Heroes & Horses, an equine therapy program. Second prize consists of a complimentary one-hour equine session with Heroes & Horses valued at $120 at Big Horse Ranch in Williamson Valley.
Raffle tickets are available until July 15 from Sara Dolan at 928-277-3455 or email@example.com. Winners need not be present at the book signing event, but it will be more fun if you are, she says.
